We are able to blend together any of our First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid courses. Appropriate certification is issued where a learner has met the assessment criteria for the courses selected.

 Our First Aid Industry Body-regulated and accredited Paediatric First Aid and Emergency Paediatric First Aid courses meet the criteria set by the Department of Education for people who work with children. The criteria ensures the Paediatric First Aid courses are suitable for workplaces, nurseries and childminders across the UK.

We’ll equip you with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to respond to Paediatric First Aid needs safely and responsibly.

We can deliver our courses in the evening, at weekends as well as during a weekday. Please contact us to discuss mutually agreed delivery times and the options of face to face or online delivery of theory.

Paediatric First Aid at Work

Paediatric First Aid

This two-day course has a total of twelve hours of contact time. The course covers the roles and responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider, including legislative obligations and accident reporting.

It also teaches the identification and initial management of the following First Aid scenarios:

  • Anaphylaxis
  • Asthma
  • Bites
  • Bleeding
  • Broken bones
  • Burns
  • Catastrophic bleeding
  • Choking
  • Circulatory and breathing disorders
  • Conditions that require CPR
  • Consequences of extreme body temperature
  • Diabetes
  • Drowning
  • Electric shock
  • Epilepsy
  • Foreign objects
  • Head injuries
  • Poisons
  • Seizures
  • Sprains and strains
  • Spinal injuries
  • Stings
  • Stroke
  • Wounds

We can deliver this course either face-to-face or via a blended method of online and face-to-face learning.

● 2 days of face-to-face course delivery is priced at £160 per person
 
● 1 day of face-to-face course delivery plus 1 day of online self learning is priced at £90 per person

Paediatric First Aid at Work

Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA)

This one-day course with six hours of contact time. The course covers the roles and responsibilities of a First Aider, including legislative obligations and accident reporting.

It also teaches the identification and initial management of the following First Aid scenarios:

  • Broken bones
  • Burns
  • Choking Conditions that require CPR

We deliver our one-day Emergency First Aid course face-to-face, with the option to have theory delivered online.

Our face-to-face Emergency Paediatric First Aid course is priced at £80 per person.

Additional details about our Paediatric First Aid courses

Here’s some additional information about both of our Paediatric First Ai courses:

  • The maximum number of learners in courses is 12 per instructor
  • Learners should be aged 16 or over on the first day of the course
  • The courses will be delivered in written and spoken English
  • We administer registration, attendance, feedback and certification digitally (i.e. via email and Microsoft Office applications)
  • We advise our learners to wear comfortable clothing that will allow them to perform tasks and assessments on the floor without restricting their movement
  • Please specify any additional support measures that members of your group require to support their participation in the course (e.g. a hearing loop, support to manage food allergies or intolerances etc). Your course tutor will need to discuss these requirements with you in greater detail at least seven days before the course start date.

Failure to disclose the need for additional support measures will result in the organisation and student taking full responsibility for any adverse outcomes that occur as a consequence of this non-disclosure, including failure to pass the course.

How we assess participants on our PFAW courses

In both of our Paediatric First Aid at Work courses, there is continual assessment through engaging discussion and we conduct the following compulsory assessments in person:

  • Delivery of Child and Baby CPR including  using an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely
  • Helping a choking casualty
  • Helping an unconscious casualty
  • Responding to wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Conducting a secondary survey
  • Managing fractures
  • Managing anaphylaxis

We may also ask students to complete written assessments in both courses.
